WELCOME + TRADING POST
Welcome to Phantasmal Rift! As your character arrives at Keystone Station following whatever harrowing experience they had in the Fissures, there's a few things you might want to look into doing that can be handwaved without much mod interaction -
HOUSING
The housing page has apartments available for characters to move into if they so desire! Rooms are not mod-assigned, so be sure to sign up for one if that's something your character would look into. There are several different types and locations of apartments to choose from, so please read that page thoroughly before you decide!
NETWORK ACCESS AND IC INBOXES
Characters newly arriving in the Station will be given free access to the network! If they have an existing device (such as a smartphone or similar), the androids can update it to log directly into the network. Failing that, they'll be given a fancy, brand-new, waterproof device. (Existing devices can also be made waterproof, because the androids are cool that way.)
You can find out more about the station's network at this FAQ.
IC inboxes on your character's journal, for private messages and the like, are encouraged, but not required. Please note that threads on IC inboxes do not count for points.
FREE STUFF
Upon arriving to the station, your character will be able to pick up a free change of clothes from the boxes set up in the common room. This is entirely handwaved. Characters will usually find something that fits them, though it may be difficult or even impossible for a true fashionista to pull together something satisfying from the cast-offs of the universe.
In addition, there is a box of free swimsuits in the Annex room containing the hot tub.
CHECK-UPS
Within a few days of the end of an expedition, Strange, the android who serves as station doctor, will ask everyone to check-in with them for a brief exam. This exam is voluntary and non-invasive (as Strange uses a form of analysis magic rather than blood tests or similar), though Strange strongly encourages everyone to go and will likely grumble at you a bit if you don't show up at some point. The explanation for the check-ups is that exposure to the Fissures can cause people to unexpectedly manifest magical powers they didn't have before; Strange's scans at least offer the chance for some forewarning.
If your character would have anything especially unusual turn up in their scan, or would not attend the check-up at all, please let a mod know so that we can keep track! Additionally, if your character has an old injury or other chronic health problem, Strange may approach them about treatment options (though, again, all treatment is voluntary). Finally, if your character has a need such as medication or the like, the acquisition of such from Strange can also be handwaved.
TRADING POST
Got unwanted loot? Interested in something someone else discarded? This post serves as a catch-all for the IC trading post, which can be found under a header every intro log. Loot from past trading posts can be claimed in the comments of this entry.
Note: Please do not thread out trading post interactions on this post! That's what the intro log header is for. This is just your one-stop shop to grab-and-go things from the past that would otherwise vanish into the piles of junk.
Unclaimed items are placed here sometime after the intro log, except for food items, which are either discarded or moved to the kitchens.

FEB 2018 + MARCH 2018
-> A large box of assorted colored card stock.
March
-> A three-pack of sentai figures from a series you're not familiar with.
-> A bulletproof vest, a bit on the larger size. The shoulder is a little ripped, but otherwise it's in good condition.

APRIL/MAY 2018
-> A welding mask with darkly tinted glass. Fits most human heads.
-> A children's Make-Your-Own gummies set, with worm and bug shaped molds. Kept in the box after use, but almost all of the actual candy is gone.
-> A set of classy goth fingernails, still in their box.
-> A stack of four frosted purple drinking glasses. Inside the top one is a red twisty-tie with a pair of keys on it.
-> A pair of wide but comfortable-looking canvas pants... That appear to be fitting for a man seven feet tall with a tail. Better get a belt.
-> This pair of book-ends, secured in a set with a zip tie, are black with statues of rearing horses.
-> A pair of tasteful black heels somewhat on the smaller side. The material is some kind of scaled skin that's impossible to identify.
-> This bone armband, when worn, allows the wearer to twist and bend any bones below where it rests (usually above the elbow) as though they were made of fairly tough rubber. The bones will resume their normal shape slowly over a few minutes, but if the armband is removed while they are still twisted or bent, you're stuck that way.
-> A novel from the middle of some seven-book epic fantasy series. It follows a young man who accidentally developed the ability to speak with the dead, where necromancy of any sort has been outlawed for a century after an evil king tried to use it to take of the world with an army of the dead. Once you get over the last of context from starting in the middle, it seems to be pretty good.
-> A makeup brush with a pale pink handle that removes any pink makeup worn by the person it's used on (but only pink makeup).
-> A somewhat batted car muffler.
-> One pair of nice leather gloves, with a note wrapped around them: "Cursed, causing twitchy motions. Not recommended anywhere near knives." There's some blood on them.
-> One rope neatly tied around itself, with a note on it's end: "Animate, has a distinct personality. Probably able to be trained by someone with more patience and focus than I?"

JUNE 2018
-> Clip-on Bowtie: It's nice and fancy looking and good for when you don't have time to fuss with the real thing.
-> A horrific candy-patterned suit.
-> TWO pairs of sumo wrestler egg cups.
-> A pair of aviator shades that were apparently made for someone with three eyes. The lens tint can be changed to whatever you want.
-> En Point: Point shoes, for dancing lightly on the very tips of your toes and not really much else.
-> Stress Ball: A bouncy tennis ball that ricochets violently off every surface it touches and once it gets going, it's very hard to stop. Just holding this thing makes you feel intensely stressed out.
